Get, download, and install iOS apps properly from the App Shop
We've obtained an app we're also functioning on that requirements to offer playback of video clip documents via AVPlayer. The files need to end up being saved on the consumer's gadget, but furthermore must playback while downloading.
At the minute we've built a download component that uses the ASIHTTPRequest collection to get the video clip files via PHP (we don't wish the mass media to be linkable via open public URLs) and create them to drive asynchronously.
We've after that setup an AVPlayer as per the AV Base Programming Manual, obtaining the file with AVURLAsset, making an AVPlayerItem with the resource, constructing the AVPlayer with the product, then establishing the player to an AVPlayerLayer. The participant runs good with a completely downloaded video file and will furthermore run a progressively downloaded file perfectly wellin the simulator.
Regrettably on an real gadget, the behaviour of the player adjustments, where rather it seemingly loads the movie as soon as and doesn't try to get fresh packets from disc. The result is definitely that the participant will enjoy video and sound up to the point in the movie that marks where the download progress wasat the time the resource was loaded(at the.h. if 2MW of information are buffered after that the player is developed, the participant will only enjoy up to the 2MT worthy of of data). Because it provides the video's header, the participant will gladly continue thinking it'h playing for the full length of the movie, but no various other video is delivered to display screen.
The last wrinkle is that if the video clip is inserted into an AVComposition and the AVPlayer can be created with that, the progressive video will enjoy good. This would be a good solution (and is essential for our app in any case on event) except that the client for our app requires that the video be playable on an Apple company TV via AirPlay, which AVCompositions are unable of.
Does anyone understand if there is definitely a way to play progressively installing video data files using an AVPlayer built from AVURLAssets? Is there a way to drive the player/playerItem to read through from disc with an AVURLAsset the way it appears to do with an AVComposition instead of seemingly caching the movie in storage?
Thanks!

I haven't a remedy to simply make it work humor AVURLAssets but I use a slightly different strategy. We bunch our App with CocoaHTTPServer and perform video documents which aren't fully downloaded trough a HTTP demand against the local server.
The machine knows the overall length of the document and can then choose by looking at the HTTP-Headers which part of the document is demand and either a good deal it from cd disk or from remote resource.
While developing this there where constantly 3 initial requests, one for the initial two bytes of the document, one of a bigger bit from the beginning of the document and one piece directly of the finish of the file. That's i9000 why it had been always required to load at minimum the final part straight from the remote machine since the participant would need it best from the begin. I would think the same happens for nearby files so the participant loads the last bytes from the file (which aren'capital t the best last bytes) and received't have fun with over that size.
You would have to subclass HTTPConnection and create your own HTTPResponse class by looking at the supplied 'HTTPAsyncFileResponse'.
I wish this provides you an idea how to accomplish this with a different technique.
